HMS Anson is the fifth of the new Astute-class submarines to join the Royal Navy fleet, coming after HMS Astute, Ambush, Artful and Audacious which are already in service. • On Saturday 18th February 2023 Anson left her berth in Devonshire Dock, Barrow-in-Furness, to make her way to moor at the sea gate in Ramsden Dock. The following morning she sailed from BAE Systems’ shipyard bound for her new home, His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde in Scotland, where she will undergo trials before taking on front-line duties. • The people of Barrow turned out in great numbers on both days to witness and to celebrate the departure. • This is a 5 minute film of events on both days.
