/!\\ The video is more orientated towards Int/Adv Waackers (or curious beginners) that are already familiar with the dance and want a closer look at the basic technique. • Watch it until the end, I wrote few things that are important for me to tell you. • I really hope this video will be of great help for those of you that want to learn the dance correctly . Keep practicing is the key ! Experience, travel, take classes/workshops, learn the history, feel the music, be open-minded, discover new dances that are challenging for you, etc... everything will make your dance grow. • Also, listen to the music on which the dance was created. For Waacking, it's Disco music.(Artists like Cheryl Lynn, Quartz, Donna summer, etc...) • After and only after that, you can make a transition to other types of music (a wide range from house, afro beats,... to commercial stuff) and have a lot of fun ;) • And most importantly, BE YOU ! • Those 5 basics are only some of the most used (if I have the time, I will try to upload more of them :D) • There's a huge benefit on practicing those basics everyday ! (on your warm up for example) • And try to execute the moves differently : On the video, when the music gets fast , I was focus on power and precision but I could have been more relax with my arms too. It's important to work • on dynamics and textures in your dance. There a lot to say , I didn't even say the quarter lol Anyway, if you want to go further, find variations of those basics or try 2 different basic arms at the same time (eg : basic 1 on the left arm and basic 2 on the right, etc...). You can play around a lot with just the ones I've introduced to you in this video !
