https://northcofire.com - Instructions For Lighting a Furnace Pilot Light • In this gas fireplace tutorial, we will explain how to light your pilot light in the event it is extinguished or blown out. If your gas fireplace pilot light was blown out, the pilot light knob would be in the on position. • While it's common for furnace manufacturers to print instructions on the actual unit, the instructions may be worn or simply non0existent. It's best to start here and see if any instructions are included with the unit. • Step #1 - turn to the pilot position (0:12) • Push in and rotate to pilot position. As shown in our tutorial, there's a line that indicates the position of the knob. • Step #2 - (0:18) • Once the pilot light knob has been rotated to the proper position, depress the knob and push the striker. In our video, this is located to the right of the pilot light knob. The pilot light should start, and you should be able to see a blue flame, showing the pilot has been lit. • Step #3 (0:38) • Continue holding down the knob for 30-seconds; this will allow the thermal generator to warm up. • Step #3 (0:47) • At this point, the pilot light should stay lit. If not, you may need to contact a licensed fireplace mechanic for a service call, as this could the sign of more significant problems. • In the event, you release the button before the pilot lights, or lockout for 60-seconds. After this, you can try again. • Step #4 (1:01) • Once the pilot light has been lit, rotate the knob to the on position. Within minutes, you'll be able to enjoy the warm glow of your gas fireplace.
