French academic Jacques Derrida is the primary figure connected with a practice of reading called deconstruction. Using such colourful analogies as that of a virus and a zombie, Derrida notes how the binary polarities of Western logic often lead to less clear and distinct positions than the philosophers maintain. You can 'resolve' the problems of viruses or zombies by killing them because neither are alive. • In this lecture, I discuss how Derrida illustrates that in relation to Plato's dialogue Phaedrus, and the author's privileging of speech over writing. Derrida takes his observations to attack the logocentrism of the West. • ❤️ If you find my channel helpful, become a channel member:    / drscottmasson
