A while back around the Scream Fortress update and a little bit before, snooping through the TF2 files lead to some interesting information about a potential skill ranking and matchmaking system. Naturally this lead to immediate pants-shitting from those who played competitive TF2 all over the world, and speculation began. How would it work? Would it be like PUGs/lobbies, or would it have a pick/ban system? The consensus - other than it's gonna be totally new - seems to be leaning towards 9v9 Highlander in terms of what Valve would prefer, though there are a few who believe that based on how Arena starts off as well as Mann vs. Machine that a 6v6-esque system would not be completely out of the question.
