Prey Behind the Scenes

Is Prey perhaps the best Predator movie yet? With incredible prosthetics, relying only on CGI when absolutely necessary, it’s leaving Dane DiLiegro with such a pain in the neck. Or maybe not, he did some special neck training to prep for staring at the ground with a giant murderous helmet on. He wasn’t the only one prepping. The cast had to go through bootcamp. Four weeks of it. Dakota Beavers had to learn to ride a horse. Amber Midthunder had to learn to use weapons. All sorts of weapons. When designing a vision, sometimes it can be hard to decide what stays and what is left on the cutting room floor. When you’re working with a prequel, it’s important your villains aren’t half-baked but also aren’t overwhelmingly powerful. They need somewhere to go, right? So deciding what powers the Predator kept and lost was a challenge. The cute dog Coco didn’t have many aspirations before Prey but now she’s living in the lap of luxury. There was plenty in Prey to not enjoy filming from shooting with smoke to the mud pit. The mud pit was absolutely nasty so said, Amber. Was it even mud? We have our suspicions. Not every scene makes it into a movie. In Prey, that scene was a chase from the trees. How sad. The director wanted all of his fights to be vertical though. Designers, man, they’re so picky! Valiantly leaping from the backs of horses and braving treacherous rivers sounds like a pretty intense shoot to us! • Subscribe: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Things • Chapters: • 00:00 Intro • 00:16 The Jump • 00:54 The Creature Design • 01:38 The Mud Pit • 02:24 Suiting Up • 03:03 What’s in a Name? • 03:18 The Trapper Fight • 03:40 Smoked Out • 04:08 The Doggo • 04:37 Horseback Riding • 04:57 Creature Training • 05:41 Training Bootcamp • 06:14 The River • 06:52 The Lost Scene • 07:16 The First Role • 07:56 Reimagining Scary • 08:28 Outro • • • Our Social Media: • Facebook: / thethingscom • Instagram: / thethingsofficial_ • For more videos and articles visit: • https://www.thethings.com • Written by: Kydra Ryan • Narrated by: Kydra Ryan • Edited by: Joaquín Rodríguez • • For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected]
