Quick guide how to light or turn on gas log fireplace safely. • Like most people, I turn off my fireplace after each winter. I live in Texas and the temperature here 75% of the year do not need fireplace. Having the pilot fire running all year long is actually not a good idea, it will be wasting gas and it is not safe. • Because I turn off my gas log fireplace every year, when the temperature drops in the winter I do need to turn it back on, here are the basic steps of how to turn on gas log fireplace after it has been off for most of the year. • 1. Make sure all the gas valves / connections are still closed. • 2. Make sure the primary switch (the one that has pilot, on, off) is switched to OFF. • 3. Start turning on the gas from the gas valve closes to the source pipe. • 4. Then turn on other gas valve closer to the gas log. • 5. Finally switch the gas log fireplace valve to PILOT and start igniting the pilot fire (you must use manual / instruction from your gas log fireplace manufacturer). • 6. Once the pilot fire is on, I usually wait at least 1 minute to make sure the pilot fire is stable. • 7. Then switch the main gas log fireplace switch to ON position. • Thanks for watching this video, I hope you are having a great winter. • #gaslogfireplace #turnonfireplace #lightgaslogfireplace
