Track 1 from their only album “Long May You Run” released in 1976 and recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami. This collaboration between Stephen Stills and Neil Young came about after an attempt to record a new Crosby, Stills, Nash Young album failed to materialize. David Crosby and Graham Nash were also involved early on but left during the recording sessions due to a commitment to record their own album together as Crosby Nash. Stills and Young were less than pleased with their decision so they removed their contributions from the recordings, causing more friction between the former bandmates. The title song was written about Young’s first car, a 1948 Buick Roadmaster hearse that he nicknamed “Mort.” It died when its transmission blew in Northern Ontario in 1962. The album received only average reviews but reached No. 26 on the billboard chart. It achieved Gold status within a few months.
