Santa Claus is late again for Christmas! The toy factory needs him immediately and you should help him get there quickly. Run as fast as you can in this crazy but fun game called Santa Run 2! The goal here is for Santa Claus to reach the toy factory. But you only exactly have 1 minute to do this task! Get to the bus stop so that the flying sleigh will aid transport you to the next level. Be careful on your way too, because there are lots of traps and obstacles to delay your journey; deadly spikes, pitfalls, and sometimes the usual wild reindeers! • ~~~ • Santa is an interesting character. He's a fat guy in a bright red suit climbing down chimneys on Christmas giving presents to little children. Still, doesn't stop a game featuring him from being fun, and that's just what you get with Santa Run 2. • The game is a fairly simple platformer where you have to finish the levels as quickly as possible, not unlike Prince of Persia. Unlike Prince of Persia though, there aren't really any gut-wrenching moments of terror as you make those jumps or step through those giant metal teeth (really, who builds these dungeons?). Instead, you'll be up against rampaging reindeer, bashable blocks, careening cars, and other alliterations of the sort. • The graphics are a retro throwback to old school gaming and are rather charming. The animation of Santa Running for example is particularly fun, as he doesn't so much run as he flops about. The various obstacles like the reindeer charging you head-first (or perhaps driving a car at you) all animate nicely as well. Of particular note as well are the levels. They're detailed and are rather colorful making the romp against the clock that much more aesthetically pleasing. Sure, they do get a bit repetitive after a few levels, but as it's not exactly a very long game it's forgivable. • Like the graphics, the sounds are a throwback to the bygone days of chiptunes and 8-bit music. While perhaps not quite as old as the first Mario games, the sounds are definitely at home with older games. It actually makes for a rather charming experience, and the nostalgic among gamers will certainly welcome it. • For the most part, the gameplay is rather simple. You play Santa and you run around trying to get the the next sled stop. Yes, sled stop. Why Santa doesn't just use his normal means of traveling is a mystery, but we'll let that slide. Along the way he must dodge charging reindeer, inexplicably placed spikes, mysteriously hovering balloons (that somehow support his weight), and use his hefty bulk to smash through brick walls by jumping on them. Kinda like Mario, but without the goombas and all. Also unlike Mario, the levels are all rather short. As you're racing against the clock, this is useful as you'll really have to dash through everything in order to make it on time. • It's a long way past Christmas, but that's no reason not to give Santa Run 2 a try, go on and take a crack at it! • Previous version of this game here: • 60s Santa Run Game
