Job's Tears always get people intrigued- these are nature's answer to sustainable jewelry! • This is definitely one of the crops I grow for pure enjoyment! Even though earlier varieties were grown for edible grains, today's varieties are grown purely for ornamental purposes, and I love them for it! • Growing: • Because they have a very hard seed coat. These germinate best when scarified and/or soaked. They grow in almost any soil but do need a full sun to reach maturity. • Harvesting: • Harvest once seeds, turn shiny on the outside, and the little wheat like tops turn brown. • Using: • You do need to pull each of the beads half of the grass like plants and then poke a hole from the bottom, i use a bend paperclip to get that job done. And that's really it, you are ready to string your seed beads into whatever jewelry you want. • I've had a bracelet I made 5 years ago, and the beads really have not faded in color or shine. Nature truly is amazing! • Have you grown Job's Tears? • #gardening #inmygarden #natural #sustainable
