During Daniel’s prayer, the angel Gabriel visits him to give insight and understanding concerning the previous vision that Daniel did not understand. The explanation reveals the 70-week time prophecy that begins with a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. It is a message filled with hope and encouragement for Daniel and his people. Even so, it ends in the future destruction of both his city and the sanctuary.
