2021 will be the year I finally build my first PC, and it starts with this BenQ PD2700U 4K monitor: https://amzn.to/2XrtmLG • Planned Build: • https://pcpartpicker.com/user/analyze... • Gaming Channel: https://bit.ly/beyondxen • I enjoy action-packed games with adventure, strategy, and discovery! • I had some technical issues at first. I will spare you the footage of my troubleshooting. Basically, when I first hooked up the monitor, it was mirroring my laptop. I changed it to extend displays . Although it displayed 4K resolution, I learned online that with an old HDMI port like on my Alienware 14 laptop, I would be limited to 30 hz at 4K. Alternatively, I could switch to 1440p to achieve the 60 hz. (I think I prefer the lower res to get the smoother refresh rate.) Initially, upon changing the resolutions, it defaulted to 29 hz at 4K, and 59 hz at 1440p. The 29 hz is really weird and feels laggy - which is what I was experiencing when you saw me watching that video at first. • When I build my new PC, I will be on much newer hardware, and using a DisplayPort instead of an HDMI, so I will be getting the intended 4K resolution at the desired 60 hz refresh rate. :)
