Antique early 20th century look. Clear glass lets you see the beauty of Edison bulbs, but use lower wattage bulbs to reduce glare. The spacer ring will sit atop the glass dome and the light socket has a large plastic nut that will secure the socket from the underside of the glass. The ceiling plate on top measures 5.75” in diameter. There’s a copper ground wire that will attach to the green ground post on the mounting bracket and the black and white wires are hot and neutral respectively. • I replaced one of the light fixtures in my kitchen and the process took about 30 minutes. If you loosen the small screw on the side of the ceiling plate where the cable comes out, you can feed some of the cable into the ceiling cap to shorten the length and raise the height of the light fixture; the longest length is about 4 ft and you can comfortably shorten it about 1 ft. Because the fixture is clear, using a standard incandescent or CFL bulb makes looking at the light way too bright to be comfortable on the eyes. I’ve gone ahead and swapped in a low wattage Edison bulb in it and the light is not as strong so it doesn’t cast a lot of light either. However, with Edison bulbs, you can see the filaments and it casts a soft orangey glow for a relaxed ambiance. You can also use slightly brighter Edison bulbs that give off more light but still aren’t blinding to look at. Overall, the look of the glass pendant light is a classic early 20th century and with the right bulbs gives your space an antique look. • Amazon Affiliate Product Link: http://amzn.to/2iRqJQY
