http://www.PacificSports.com • Today we're going to review how to hit a killer Z-Serve. A Z-Serve is great for when your struggling with your first serve, drive-serve. If you're hitting a lot of short balls, it's easier to hit this ball because you're going to hit it high and you're going to put some pace on the ball. That will get you into a rhythm of serving. If you hit this ball right, most club players will have a hard time returning this serve. • If you're right-handed, then that means you're going to hit the Z-Serve to the left side (to your opponent's backhand). You'll want to position yourself with your heel right inside the Drive/Serve line. Take two steps and you'll hit the ball. • Depending on the amount of slice, your power and your particular swing, you're going to hit the ball anywhere from about 1' to about 2 - 3 out of the corner. The ball will hit the front wall, hit the side wall, travel through the center of the court, hit between 1 to 2 feet of the back wall and slide down, which will make it extremely tough to hit. • Just as important as executing the right angle with this serve is to move properly to make sure you're safe. When you hit the ball, you'll want your follow-thru to completely turn you around. You'll turn, roll and watch the ball bounce just over your left shoulder. You'll slide into center court and be ready. • If you're playing somebody and you're concerned about their control, be sure to look through your racquet to protect your face. This will keep you safe whenever you may be in danger on the court.
