PIT Maneuver Sends Suspect Flying

Summary Via APD: • On February 1, 2025, officers assigned to the Atlanta Police Zone 4 Crime Suppression Unit were notified that a vehicle involved in an armed robbery in Hapeville was in their area. Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle near Dodson Dr. and Ben Hill Rd. The vehicle initially stopped for officers but quickly fled, and A.C.E. Unit officers engaged in a pursuit. The pursuit ended with an A.C.E. Unit officer using a PIT maneuver. One suspect continued to attempt to elude arrest by running from the vehicle. Officers quickly located and took the fleeing suspect into custody. The second suspect remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody. The suspects were identified as Detavious Waller (11/1990) and Juwaan McKinnon (7/1990). The Hapeville Police Department was the arresting agency for the two suspects. This case highlights how neighboring agencies in the Atlanta Metropolitan area can coordinate efforts to reduce crime and remove criminals from our streets.
