The country quintet’s four albums, three EPs, five ACM awards and three CMA awards is the kind of creative bounty that substantiates a series of wise moves, moves that have pleased audiences since the get-go. Co-founder Matthew Ramsey explained one of their key formulas when OD walked away with the Group Of The Year designation last month at the ACM Awards show. “You have to write music and play music that moves you; if it’s speaking to your heart, then it’s going to speak to someone else’s heart. And trying to chase after what you THINK someone else is gonna be moved by is the wrong move.” Along with Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung, and Brad Tursi, Ramsey has a knack for making a cool hook sound like the easiest thing in the world to share with others.
