This makes it extremely difficult to juggle a 6 metre pole with a lopper on the end of it and pull the rope far enough to cut through that overhanging branch. • The Sintung is a ratchet lopper. You place the lopper over the branch and pull the rope enough so that the blade bites into the branch and sticks there. Raise up your arm and a spring pulls the locking pin up the ratchet so that you have a tight rope to pull down and bite further into the branch. Do that once more and you will have cut through a 30mm branch. • Benefits for the user: Don’t have to juggle the pole and move your hand up the rope to be able to pull it further through the branch. • Not as much effort is required as you get more leverage when the locking pin moves up to the next stage. Not as much pressure is placed on the pole. It is simplicity that makes it work so well. • When the cutting blade bites into the branch it is held there in a half-open position that allows the spring to pull the lever pin up to the next ratchet position. The manufacturers of the Sintung loppers also make ratchet secateurs that are sold throughout the world. • Their expertise with this type of ratchet technology has been transferred to the Sintung lopper.
