L19_Themocouple |Working Principle and Construction|Seebeck effect|Variation in Thermo emf with temp • A thermocouple is a sensor for measuring temperature. This sensor consists of two dissimilar metal wires, joined at one end, and connected to a thermocouple thermometer or other thermocouple-capable device at the other end. When properly configured, thermocouples can provide temperature measurements over wide range of temperatures. • In the 1820s, the Estonian-German physicist Thomas Johann Seebeck discovered that when a temperature difference between two dissimilar electrical conductors occurs, a corresponding voltage difference will be produced. This phenomenon is now known as the Seebeck or thermoelectric effect. The “Seebeck effect” is responsible for the behavior of thermocouples. • Seebeck effect is reversible why? • what is neutral temperature? • what is inversion temperature? • #LalaThephysicist #THERMOCOUPLE #HCVERMA • keywords: • thermocouple • thermocouple working • thermocouple construction • Seebeck effect • thermocouple basic principle • variation in thermoelectric emf with temperature • neutral temperature • inversion temperature • graph of emf vs temperature • thermoelectric series • • • #LalaThephysicist #THERMOCOUPLE #HCVERMA
