This is a conversation lived by so many of us. • Two important pieces of this reel. • First. How do you talk to your spouse in front of your children? It is absolutely OK to disagree, fight, argue in front of your children, but what is most important is that you remain respectful and that your children see you repair. In fact, living in a home where parents never fight or only fight behind closed doors , can make it difficult when that child grows up and feels like something is wrong with them when they have arguments in their own relationship. However, seeing parents, respectfully disagree or argue, and then repair can be really healing. Name-calling, belittling language, and other things of this nature should not happen ever and especially in front of children. • Second. The quick repair! Just because you dug your heels in, doesn’t mean you have to keep digging them in. It is OK to reach out as soon as you have realized that you are in the wrong. Even if your partner is still upset, it’s important to acknowledge and take accountability as soon as possible so that the healing process can begin. This couple could’ve let the argument go on for hours, but they chose to resolve it in the moment.
