This tutorial video teaches about the method Ziegler-Nichols of PID tuning for the control system. Its effect also discusses on MATLAB platform. Ziegler Nichols defines the table-based calculation part, the value of the table finalized after the lots of exercises done on the industrial process. Numerical Implementation of Ziegler Nicholas Tuning Method on the plant is defined. The critical value of Gain, Kcr, and corresponding to it, Pcr defines the PID controller parameters. Evaluation of Kcr and Pcr, Routh's Hurwitz stability criterion-based method is useful. Routh's Hurwitz defines a routh array by the given characteristic equation. Denominator Polynomial of transfer function defines the characteristic equation. Coefficients of characteristics equation create the base of routh array and further elements of array evaluated by using the given coefficients. The value of the first column of the routh array defines the stability of the system. On the concept of stability, Routh Hurwitz helps out to calculate the value of Kcr and Pcr. PID controller parameters are related to Kcr and Pcr according to the table defined by Zieger Nichols. Use that values for designing of PID controller for a particular system.
