http://www.keturi.com/tt/ • Elmer Keturi (approx. 1990) narrates 8mm film taken in 1943 of the aftermath of one of their Caterpillar Cat trains crashing through the ice, in MINUS 20 degrees F temperatures. The D8 bulldozer's driver got out safely. This shows the diver going down under the ice to connect a cable to the 'dozer, and later the D8 successfully being pulled out after several attempts. • More details of this event can be found at: http://www.keturi.com/tt/chapter-10 • Elmer Keturi (1906 - 1996), a son of Finnish immigrants, was an early Alaskan Gold Miner, starting in Flat, AK, then mining Moore Creek, AK and Taylor Creek, AK. Later he was contracted to haul freight hundreds of miles across Alaskan trails, much of which he built. They hauled the freight using Cat Trains which consisted of Bulldozers towing buildings on sled rails across the snow and ice.
