Man what a journey. Yatagarasu was initially the level I wanted to make as my next step and next hardest, and I knew that for a very long time. Ever since I beat Stalemate Redux I knew that Yata would be the most natural next step for me. I love the level, and as you all know, Trusta is my best, and closest friend, so it felt like a level that I had to get done. Around midway through october, back BEFORE I was learning Carcano, I was talking in the Kenos group chat about how I want to end the year with a bang, and that I wanted to do something spectacular to really leave a mark on the end of the year for me, and I brought up the idea of “shadow dropping” a new hardest demon. At the time, it only really felt like an idea that I wanted to try out - but I started making quick progress. Even before the end of October I had Gotten 41% on Yatagarasu, as well as a 61-100 run, which made me feel confident with the Idea of doing a new hardest by the end of the year, in secrecy. When I started Carcano, in the beginning of November, I said to myself that if I want to have this done, only being able to play at night, after my own streams, I can’t do any more extremes this year, just so I can entirely focus on Yatagarasu, as extreme demons take a lot of practice, so I did just that. Announced that I was going to not beat any more extremes, and I used daily uploads as an excuse as to why I wouldn’t have time to focus on a really hard level, and the idea that I wanted my next hardest to be my next one, as it would be my 25th extreme demon. And here I am. November came to an end, I had 81% and I felt confident, but the days went on, and the attempts racked up quickly. It took me an additional 3000 attempts after I passed my new best, around the end of the first week of december to actually make any more progress, and on December 17th, at 1am my time, I fluked Yatagarasu from 82%, after 2 deaths at 82, 1 at 81, 3 at 76, and around 75 attempts reaching michigun (54%). I will admit, I got really lucky, and I feel like this was my npesta moment. I had been playing horribly for nearly 2 weeks, and felt the pressure build up about being able to pull this christmas gift off, but in the end, I pulled through when I least expected it. Maybe not on the exact day, but damn near, as I did not have any spare time from the 21st and onward. So yeah, this is my new hardest demon. Yatagarasu by Trusta and more, completed in (surprisingly) only 14 500 attempts. • I wanna give a huge thanks over to Moosh especially for being my venting buddy as I was working on this.
