We’re back with Tyler Woods talking about “Ikea” Hamlet; how to make Hamlet light in terms of costuming, directing, and, of course, budgeting. In his fourth production of Hamlet, we’ll hear how fatherhood has changed Tyler’s perspective of some of the characters. There are only two women, but we are going to talk about the stories of both women and the predicament that Shakespeare puts them in. He even tries to temper my shrew-link opinion of Polonius (it’s a valiant and somewhat successful effort) and helps us understand how actors and directors use the text, and even go beyond the text, to create backstory that allows you to understand the motivation of the characters. Will we answer the questions of Hamlet in this podcast? No, we will not. We will plumb the unplumbable? We shall! • / @shakespeareanshrew • Please follow us on Instagram: @theshakespeareanshrew • TikTok: @theshakespeareanshrew • We are getting ready for Hamlet, which opens September 12th, so ask me your Hamlet questions, and I will find you some answers. • Thank you for listening! • Host/Shakespearean Shrew: Dr. Karen Feiner • Co-Creator/Brew Shrew: Michelle Coffman • Cover Art Creator/Artistic Shrew: Katie Kimberling www.halfmaverick.com • Thank you to our guest Tyler Woods. • TYLER WOODS • ARTISTIC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR • Tyler Woods is an Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Award-Winning Producer, Director, SAG/AFTRA, AEA Actor, and Fight Choreographer who has worked with Oklahoma Shakespeare since 1998, when he appeared in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Hafer Park in Edmond.
