In Rankine cycle high pressure steam is developed in a boiler and the same steam is expanded through a turbine to develop work. The work developed by the turbine is used for developing electric power in the generator. The steam after expanding through the turbine is passed through a condenser where it looses heat to again become liquid water. The liquid water is sent back to the boiler by the help of a pump to complete the cycle. Rankine cycle is an external combustion engine in which heat is added in the boiler and rejected by the condenser. Learn the basics of Rankine cycle with easy to understand lecture (Updated)
