1976 C3 Corvette. How to install new hood weatherstripping properly. A simple DIY project. • C3 Corvette weatherstripping is not limited to doors, T-tops, and windows. The rear portion of the hood also has a 68-inch (approx.) strip of insulation. • The one on my '76 Vette was hard, cracked, and brittle after forty-plus years of service plus overspray when the car was repainted from silver to red years ago. • Fortunately, new replacement pieces are available, and I ordered one from Amazon. I also got a tube of 3M Black weatherstripping adhesive to install the seal properly (links below). • If all the surfaces are clean and ready to receive the new weatherstripping, installation can be easily done in approximately 30 minutes. The adhesive gets tacky in about 3 minutes and you are ready to start attaching the seal to it. • And if you can safely prop the hood to the right angle, you could install the new weatherstripping without removing it. • As I show in the video, I prefer to work in smaller sections at a time. Especially during the glue-up for the middle section. I consider my approach to marking and positioning the middle of the seal the easiest way to ensure a clean and balanced installation. • Replacing old and ineffective hood weatherstripping is an affordable and easy project for the dedicated C3 Corvette owner. • Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻 • ====================================== • CORVETTE PRODUCTS (sponsored) • Weatherstrip Rear Edge: https://amzn.to/2M0Hp8T • 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive: https://amzn.to/35SSJL6 • Semi-Gloss Black: https://amzn.to/2LKKg5X • 60 to 2000 Sandpaper: https://amzn.to/35Sd3MA • C3 Repair Manual: https://amzn.to/3devEEW • How to Restore Your C3: https://amzn.to/35B6L0R • C3 Restoration Guide: https://amzn.to/2QvvIGQ • Corvette C3 1968-1982: https://amzn.to/2IR8NRN • Rebuild Corvette Chassis: https://amzn.to/38X6CXg • ====================================== • DISCLAIMER: Even though I like to wrench on my Corvette and most of my videos are of a how-to nature, I am not responsible nor liable should you decide to follow my musings on the subject. • The repairs and other work I do are for my own benefit and entertainment, and even though my videos may sound and appear to give technical how-to advice, that's not my intention. • Working on a vehicle is inherently dangerous.
