Picard begins to unravel a conspiracy that extends to the highest levels of Starfleet. We see that Narek is an essential part of this plan, working to gain Daaj's sister Sojis trust in order to get information out of her. Picard looks to be reinstated in Starfleet and given a small crew, requests that are denied. He begins to assemble a crew of his own. We also learn more about the Romulans reclamation project on the Borg Cube, namely that it is populated with still-sentient beings who were formerly part of the Borg collective. We learn a little more about the incident on Mars 14 years ago where the synthetic life forms went rogue and destroyed the settlement there.
