For our Twenty Percent Project for the school year 2017-2018, we decided to use the time given to advocate for more depression awareness by creating a Public Service Announcement (PSA) in the form of an artistic interpretation. The poem was as inspirational as the first time I watched it, to the last second of how we animated it. We hope that people will watch this with an open mind, and more importantly, an open heart, as the topic is a very sensitive one, and that people will take away a lesson from this. People need to be more sensitive of people undergoing very difficult times. Depression is not simply an emotion that can go away at the flip of a switch. Learn to understand these people, to listen to these people, and to love these people. They are deprived of it the most. • Joanna: In this video my partner and I have animated, we are trying to express how hard and confining depression can be to an audience that may not know how hard it hits the most affected. We have worked long and hard, switching form song to poem to try and find the right emotion, match the pain people with depression suffer from.
