Curacao Ostrich Ride 2016

Riding an Ostrich at the Curacao Ostrich Farm in Curacao was an interesting experience. We took a short drive out to the pen and run area where the rides take place. They blindfold the bird to keep him calm while being mounted and to also keep him from trying to run directly back to the pen. Once they take the blindfold off after the first stretch of the ride, the Ostrich will naturally want to return to his own pen. • The handlers say the bird can handle up to 300 LBS, I'm well below that and the bird didn't have any issues strutting around with me on top. The hissing noise the Ostrich makes didn't give me the feeling that these creatures enjoy being mounted.
