His practice with the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO serves the Vail and Denver area. Patients travel from the US and abroad seeking resolution for chronic back pain and failed surgical treatment. • Dr. Donald Corenman, MD, DC (http://neckandback.com | 970-479-5895), is a spine surgeon in Colorado who specializes in all degenerative, sports-related and traumatic injuries and conditions of the spine. He recently launched his own educational website ( http://neckandback.com ) as a resource for patients, other physicians and colleagues to get information and 2nd opinions for conditions and treatment options relating to the spine. • Dr. Corenman recently created this video on understanding X-Rays of the lumbar spine to provide a detailed description of this area of the spine. • This video—Understanding X-Rays of the Lumbar Spine—is designed for the practitioner who has access to X-rays for diagnosis of lower back disorders. Lumbar X-rays can deliver so much information in so few films. One can look at the health of the discs, facets, nerve root foramen, alignment, look for pars defects (spondylolisthesis) and scoliosis. This test is the only real way to determine how gravity affects the spine (MRIs and CT scans are performed lying down and the stand-up MRIs are of poor quality). Flexion and extension views add to the knowledge of motion of the spine and oblique films can identify breaks in the pars interarticularis (spondylolisthesis). • Dr. Corenman has been a spine surgeon in Colorado for more than 18 years. He has dedicated his professional life educating others about spinal disorders and treatments. You can learn more about Dr. Corenman by visiting his educational website.
