Live Edge Charcuterie Board with Epoxy Inlay for Canada Day 🍁

I wanted to try out some epoxy inlays and figured some charcuterie / cheese cutting boards would be a good way to experiment. And what better occasion than Canada Day! 🍁 • I made the boards out of ambrosia maple. Since it has some voids I wouldn't recommend this for a daily use cutting board unless you made sure you got some solid pieces. But for something like a cheese board it will be fine and have limited risk of harboring any bacteria. • The design was cut out on the shapeoko using 2 passes. I hogged out the majority of the design with a .25 end mill then swapped to a .125 for the edge detailing. You can see I got my zero a tad off and the edge goes deeper. • I mixed the epoxy and added in some Red Ecopoxy powder. I then popped the bubbles with my propane torch and let it set overnight. • The next day I sanded with 120 and 220 grit. I then went over the epoxy portion with a 1000 grit Micromesh pad. I did a dry sand in the video but I ended up going back and wet sanding it after to get a better finish. I highly recommend wet sanding the epoxy. It would look even nicer if you went to a higher grit as well. • I finished the boards in mineral oil.
