Mr McBride's publisher, the conservative blogger Iain Dale, was trying to stop the protester Stuart Holmes and tackled him to the ground. Writing on his blog later, Mr Dale said he didn't regret his behaviour and was protecting his author. Damian McBride's controversial memoir, Power Trip, is thought to have overshadowed the party conference this week, with claims of bitter in-fighting during the Blair-Brown years of the Labour party.
