We're going to explore playing three over four. This is a simple and obtainable rhythm to grasp. Then when turned into a solid riff can lead to much heavier and intricate parts. This is not what Meshuggah does (exactly) but if you are unfamiliar on how to apply polyrhythms to your riffs, then this is a solid start. Meshuggah takes this displacement concept much farther. They apply pattern based groupings against (over) a meter (say four).
