Here is my HMV model 102 wind up portable gramophone which dates from c1934/35. • The 102 was considered to be the most successful of all the portables and was in production from July/August 1931 until around 1960 and was marketed by the manufacturers as 'The World's Finest Portable'. This example is in the blue finish - rarer and more desirable as coloured models cost an extra 40p when new (approximately £80.00 extra today) so it was only the wealthier customers who would pay for this luxury! • The record is 'Jukebox Saturday night' by Glenn Miller and his orchestra which was released in November 1942 and is notable as being his last hit record as a civilian. • Please visit http://www.thegramophonecollector.com for more details of my collection.
