When she was appointed to head Oxfam international in 2013, Uganda’s Winnie Byanyima knew the platform would help her make a case for the poor in Africa and the developing world. After all, these regions continue to bear the burden of climate change and paid a heavy price for tax evasion by multinationals, aided by corrupt governments. Now aged 57, Winnie Byanyima took this challenge with ease, after all, she had had enormous experience to draw from as a former member of parliament, diplomat, and committed gender and human rights activist.
