UPDATE: Coding is required only on cars with Auto-Start/Stop. Also, Fleece is the correct setting for an AGM battery. • My GTI's battery suddenly died after only two years and eight months. However, my extra electronics can be abusive to an otherwise adequate battery. I decided to replace the VW battery with a larger Group 48/H6 dual-purpose AGM battery.
