Cecil Thorne and his daughter Nerissa Thorne screamed for help as his Reliant Robin car was pushed backwards by the lorry. The car then rolled over, trapping the terrified pair inside during the drama in East Street, Southampton. Passers-by raced to free the couple from the vehicle which was leaking petrol. They were both pulled out of the wreckage by a quick-thinking off-duty coastguard and a nearby shop worker.
