With Rob and Sophie's marriage hanging on by a thread, Sophie's mom (an ex-addict herself) puts forward a theory that Rob might be an addict. She points to his repeated cheating as proof he's suffering from a compulsive disease. She urges Sophie to leave and not try to fix Rob. But the problem is, caring for addicts is what Sophie knows. She's literally saved her mom's life! • So whether Claire's theory is true or not, it seems to have had little impact on Sophie. In fact, if anything, it might have the opposite effect to what she hoped.
