The new Wood Badge is something that everyone's talking about. Discover with ScouterStan what is new at Wood Badge. National has implemented many surveys to improve Wood Badge with new leadership teaching skills. Streamlining the normal course from six to five days and lowering the cost. Also revamping the mission statement to reflect modern leadership techniques. Wood Badge is now recommended for all new adult leaders who have completed their basic and specific leadership training. If you've already have taken Wood Badge you do not need to do it again. Nonparticipants in wood badge have expressed three major problems in many surveys by national: • 1. I don’t have enough time. – It’s now 5 full days or two weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun Sat/Sun). • 2. It’s too expensive. – Financial help is always available. The cost should go down by one day. • 3. I’ve never heard of it. (WHAT???) • What's NEW In Wood Badge: • • There’s a new mission statement. – “The mission of Wood Badge is to inspire and train adults to achieve the mission and aims of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) through world-class leadership training that sets an example for youth empowerment to impact the world.” • • A more streamlined schedule (five days instead of six). • • A new syllabus packed with takeaways. Participants can use them right away. • • New Pentagon Logo that symbolizes Wood Badge remains, with redefined themes: • 1. Living the Values: Personifying the Scouting values and setting an example for youth • 2. Growing: Knowing and growing yourself first and committing to continuous improvement and lifelong learning • 3. Connecting: Establishing personal relationships • 4. Guiding: Enabling and developing others • 5. Empowering: Helping other people to become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, and more likely themselves “to serve and to lead” • Wood Badge is for any adult leader and professional Scouters.
