Good Morning Blues (trad.) • Lead Belly ~ vocals, guitar • Bunk Johnson ~ trumpet • Jimmy Archey ~ trombone • Omer Simeon ~ clarinet • Ralph Sutton ~ piano • Danny Barker ~ guitar • Cyrus St. Claire ~ brass bass • Recorded: 6 September, 1947, New York Town Hall • Available on: Leadbelly “Live” New York 1947 Austin, Texas 1949, Document Records, DOCD-5676 • The music of Leadbelly just grabbed my imagination. There I was, a kid of twelve at that time and it reached out to me like the works of the great poets. It was an intense, intense attraction for me. It was like falling in love for the first time I suppose. I still get shivers up and down the spine listening to his music. • Long John Baldry, 2002 • Long John Baldry recorded 'Good Morning Blues,' for the first time, at the age of eighteen, as a demo, in 1958. Subsequent recordings of the song, both live and in-studio, would feature on various Baldry albums over the years. The most notable recording is featured on Baldry's Stony Plain Records album, 'Remembering Leadbelly.' • Another fabulous recording of the song can be found on the Doug Cox album, 'Bone, Bottle, Brass, or Steel,' from 1996. • Long John would also play the song live on television in 1991 with his old friend Spencer Davis. • Long John Baldry Spencer Davis (1991) • • Long John Baldry Spencer Davis - Go... • Doug Cox Long John Baldry (1996) • https://soundcloud.com/dougcox/good-mornin... • Remembering Leadbelly (2001) • https://stonyplainrecords.bandcamp.com/alb...
