Fresnel's Biprism • Fresnel's Biprism consist of two points ABC and A'BC having acute angles at A and A' and placed base to base with each other as shown in figure. In actual practice, it is constructed as a single prism having obtuse angle of 179° at B and acute angles at 30° each at A and A'. The prism was first designed by Fresnel and that is why it is so called. • The Fresnel's biprism can be used to obtain two coherent sources as follows.
