Central to the Chief Nursing Officer for England’s (CNO) vision is to harness the collective voice of nursing, midwifery and care staff, to influence and drive change, at local, regional and national levels. An engaged workforce is crucial, so that changes can be driven forwards. Strong, visible leadership from nursing midwifery and care staff at all levels is essential to ensuring the delivery of the Long-Term Plan and to improve the outcomes and experiences for individuals, families and populations, addressing local, regional and national unwarranted variations and inequalities. • • One of the CNO’s key objectives is to support the implementation of the national Shared Governance: Collective Leadership programme, which is made up of three components. • Local Accreditation; • Nursing and Midwifery Excellence; • Shared Decision-Making. • • Shared Governance models create a culture in which the delivery of healthcare can thrive and have been widely implemented in nursing for more than 30 years. A core component of the CNO Shared Governance: Collective Leadership Programme is the wider establishment of local, regional and national Shared Decision-Making Councils and the commitment to support the sharing best practice and learning across healthcare as part of #1professionalvoice. • • For further information on the CNO Shared Governance: Collective Leadership programme please go to https://www.england.nhs.uk/nursingmid...
