This is a short sample of this incredible film in which the musician sings to the boy of the evils of the Ceauşescu regime in Rumania. • Latcho Drom was a labour of love by Tony Gatlif (born in Algeria) a French film director of Romani ethnicity who also works as a screenwriter, composer, actor, and producer. Since 1981 Gatlif's work has been focused on the Roma people of Europe, from whom he traces his descent. Gatlif spent 1992 and 1993 shooting Latcho Drom, which was awarded numerous prizes. It is a feature-length musical film dealing with gypsy culture throughout the world.
