The Mishimoto Performance Racing thermostat replaces the factory thermostat on 1997–2016 F-150s with a lower temperature alternative. The Mishimoto thermostat will open at a lower 160-degrees Fahrenheit, compared to the higher 180-degrees through the factory unit. This means that coolant will be introduced at a lower temperature and allow your engine to run much cooler and more efficiently, offering better overall performance and durability over time. This is ideal for trucks that are making long drives or towing a significant amount of weight. In addition, the new thermostat is great for modified trucks that require coolant to cool a demanding engine during peak performance. • Simple Construction. The Mishimoto thermostat is constructed and looks identical to the factory unit, but offers a lower opening temperature, allowing coolant into the engine block for better overall efficiency and maintaining engine temperatures at a lower rate. • Plug and Play Installation. The installation is straightforward and doesn’t require any modification to your F-150. Basically, once the coolant has been drained and the factory thermostat removed, this new unit can be placed in the same factory thermostat housing without any modification.
