Orange County Fire Authority introduces its two new S70 FIREHAWK helicopters with a water-dropping demonstration and press conference. The FIREHAWKS exponentially bolster OCFA's aerial firefighting and remote rescue capabilities, protecting lives and property with cutting- edge technology, speed, water-dropping power, precision, and agility. • On October 27, 2022, the OCFA Board of Directors approved the purchase of the two new aircraft, which replaced the two OCFA 1966 UH-1H Super Huey helicopters that were grounded in 2020 due to significantly increased cost of repairs and operation. The FIREHAWKS join OCFA's two Bell 412EP helicopters, providing the agency with four operational helicopters for the first time in four years and empowering OCFA Air Operations to perform enhanced day/night aerial fire suppression, remote rescues, and other all-hazard missions at a far safer and capable level. • True force multipliers in battling wildfires, the FIREHAWKS wil showcase water-dropping capabilities that eclipse the Bell412s by 256% per drop (350 gallons vs. 1,000 gallons). • #AIRBOYD #AvGeek #ocfa
