After getting the T-128 in Notasulga recorded, I split off from the rest to work on getting the rest of the CSX Selma Subdivision documented before heading to this siren to record it for Montgomery's monthly test, while the rest went for the analog Whelen @madisoncountysirens4295 and I recorded last month. A few minutes before the test time, the county silently tested every siren, causing them to reset to their home positions. Then, a couple of minutes after the scheduled test time, the sirens finally sounded off. Apparently, presumably due to the delayed test and some storms starting to enter the area, the rest of the Whelens did only about 1.5 minutes of alert followed by the full attack tone. However, this one seemingly missed the cancel and attack tones, which caused it to only do a full three minutes of alert, and me to leave my camera rolling for a long while after expecting the already-sounded attack tone. Either way, it was nice getting to finally record this one. It is also on a 435 hz controller, which is what causes it to make that rhythmic popping sound while it sounds. • Standing next to this siren is another one of Montgomery's old civil defense sirens, a Thunderbolt siren that is apparently from 1978 per what @DJ2226 was able to make-out on its tag. This siren was left disconnected and abandoned in place after Montgomery County's system upgrade in the late-90s/2000s, and is now the last Thunderbolt siren left standing in Montgomery after the other remaining Thunderbolt on the other side of Montgomery was removed. As you can probably see at the end of the video, the controls for it are in the process of attempting to fall off of the pole. • Montgomery County, AL, tests on the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30PM, weather permitting. If the test is unable to be conducted on the first Wednesday, it is delayed to the second Wednesday of the month at 3:30 PM, weather permitting, and is also potentially an abbreviated test. • The Alabama Statewide Siren Map: • https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edi... • If you like my videos, feel free to leave me a tip on Ko-Fi!
