To read more: • http://levant.tv/rifaat-al-assad-file... • Following a complaint made on 13th September 2013 by two organisations, Sherpa and Transparency International, and continued pressure from them, French prosecutors have launched an investigation into the wealth of Rifaat Al-Assad. • After 30 years of living in exile and publicly opposing the current Syrian Government, the investigation comes at a time where Rifaat Al-Assad is expected to be present at the upcoming Peace Conference on Syria in Geneva. • Rifaat Al-Assad's son, Siwar Al-Assad, said in a press conference on Thursday 3rd October 2013 that the funds for his father's legitimately acquired assets did not come from Syrian funds but from friends who supported his father when he came to France in 1984 after breaking with the Syrian Regime.
