They are known for their smooth gaits, which makes them very comfortable to ride! • In addition to the gaits that other horses have, (walk, trot, and canter) they also have a gait called the tölt, which is a smooth four-beat gait. Some Icelandics also have a fifth gait, which is called the Flying Pace. Its a fast lateral gait, where both legs on each side move forward at the same time.
