Mastercard chargebacks refer to chargebacks that occur from cardholders and issuing banks on the Mastercard network. It's important to know and understand the rules, reason codes, time limits, and procedures for handling chargebacks on each card network so that a merchant has the best chance of recovering the lost revenue from the chargeback taking place. • Mastercard's chargeback process is a little different than the process used by Visa. It includes first presentment,, first chargeback, second presentment, and arbitration. These are all important elements to the process to understand for anyone involved in the chargeback process. • As for time limits, Mastercard allows customers to dispute a transaction up to between 60 to 120 days after the transaction happened. However, some recurring billing transactions can be disputed over a year later! Despite these long periods, acquiring banks have only 45 days to respond to a chargeback to fight it under Mastercard's chargeback rules. • It's important for merchants to stay up to date on new rules and regulations put in place by card networks. However, some companies prefer to outsource to a chargeback management services company where they know their chargebacks will be handled with the most up to date procedures. • Read the article: • https://www.chargebackgurus.com/blog/... • ©Chargeback Gurus 2020 • Production: Courtney Freeman Tyler DeLarm • Narration: Phil Claffey
