I thought it would be interesting to see if a three year old is capable of demonstrating delayed gratification. Learning to delay gratification becomes easier the older we get. Most three year olds know very little on how to be patient. Heck! Learning patiences is hard for most of us adults! It is fascinating because delayed gratification has been linked to predictors of success in the future. This is all a larger discussion around cognitive development, specifically cognitive development in early childhood. Instant gratification gets the best of us all sometimes.
