A simple guide on how to overwinter your chilli pepper plants. ChilliDave shows us how to choose your plant and how easy and simple it is to over winter. • The advantage of overwintering is that growth will start early in the season and you will have chillies before your seedlings mature, as the plant has established itself. • The chili plant he has decided to trim is a Naga Viper one of the Worlds Hottest Chili • A few choice clips with secateurs (sharp) he trims off the stalks, just above old leaf drop and near the main stem. • We advise using a slow release fertilizer to re-nourish the root ball, then in the new year we will re-pot into a larger pot approx 30cm diameter, however you can put in a larger pot as this will increase the size of the plant (this is depending on the type of chili). • Depending on where you live in the world and the climate over wintering will vary, for example we are in the United Kingdom and we do this around the end of October to mid November.
